Electrical System
The electrical system in your home meets or exceeds all applicable electrical code requirements. Only a qualified electrician should undertake any alterations to the electrical components of your home. The circuits of your home can accommodate 15 or 20 amp loads. If a circuit is overloaded it will trip the breaker, or discontinue power. It is important to locate and correct the problem before attempting to reset the breaker. Overloading is often caused by too many appliances drawing power from the same circuit.
Check the function of your GFCI receptacles often to ensure the reset is working properly, and never exceed the recommended bulb size indicated on your light fixtures. If you encounter a problem with your homes electrical system, do not attempt to modify it yourself. Contact our customer service representative or a qualified electrician.
Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Equipment
Your HVAC system has been designed for your comfort and convenience. Your homes HVAC system may include a furnace, Heat Return Ventilator (HRV), air conditioner, thermostat, humidistat and ductwork. You may have also chosen to add a fireplace, power humidifier or air purifier. These pieces of specialized equipment must all work together to achieve maximum effectiveness. The equipment has been specifically sized to match your home, including the various room design, square footage and orientation.
Programmable thermostats are a great tool in conserving energy, but should not be programmed to raise or lower the temperature of your home by more than 3 degrees Celsius. A temperature difference greater than 3 degrees actually causes your equipment to work harder to restore the temperature than it would have to maintain it, thus negating any savings and causing unnecessary stress on your equipment. Todays smart equipment does not require a lot of attention, and we recommend you do not change the settings we have programmed for you.
Your primary role in maintaining your HVAC system is cleaning and replacing air filters and insuring registers (both supply and return) are not covered or blocked with floor coverings or furniture. It's especially important to change your furnace filter and clean your HRV filter every month during your first year, as fine particles of construction dust make their way out
